Our seminar is a high energy three day program which focuses on three phases of leadership – personal leadership, group leadership and leadership for society. Each phase is introduced and presented via speakers and activities. We believe in the importance of community service and of giving back to our communities. We will do a large community service project during the seminar. Those attending the MA HOBY seminar leave with skills that empower them to lead and to excel. To read more about how attendees are impacted, please read the testimonials under the Alumni section of our website.

FORMATION OF THE MA HOBY PROGRAM SUPPORT COMMITTEE (PSC)

We re-structured our organization. We formed a Program Support Committee made up of staff that is willing to help all three of our programs – seminar, alumni association and CLeW (Community Leadership Workshop). Members of this committee will either hold a titled role with responsibilities or be responsible for a project. Several jobs have been broken down and projects are being created in order to offer more opportunities to volunteers as well as creating more manageable roles for staff to take on. This change is largely due to the number of staff who have volunteered to help. Gail Elmore, MA HOBY President, will chair this committee through January as we will be working on all three programs. Christine Elmore, MA HOBY 2014 Seminar Chair, will chair this committee from February to the seminar as the work will be more focused on the seminar. Members of this committee committed to fulfill the following expectations:

  • Attend 7 out of the 8 monthly meetings
  • Attend the staff orientation on Jan. 11 and staff training on May 24
  • Hold a defined position and/or complete a major project
  • Fundraise at least $200
  • Attend an alumni event

The members of the PSC for the 2013/2014 MA HOBY program year are:

Bobby Arruda Sarah Collins
Christine Elmore Gail Elmore
Luke Fraser Brad Heglin
Julie White Lyndsy Stopa
Andres Tejeda

There will be additional projects available to other staff members who want to help, but were not able to make the commitment to fulfill all five of the expectations. We are proud of our volunteers who are so willing to help! We appreciate your efforts and your outstanding contributions!
